why relaxation techniques can reduce pain management as a relaxation therapist
Pain Management, Relaxation

Why Relaxation Techniques Can Reduce Pain

Relaxation Techniques Can Reduce Pain because they can help lower muscle tension, pressure, and inflammation on the muscles and joints. That is why relaxation therapy techniques are often taught in pain management programs.

Why A Relaxation Teacher And Therapist Can Help Clients Reduce Pain

A Qualified Relaxation Therapist can not only use their relaxation skills to help clients reduce their anxiety and stress levels. But the relaxation teacher or therapist will often help clients lower long-term chronic pain. The relaxation exercises used in relation therapy not only move the mind and body out of the physiological stress response into the relaxed response. But the right relaxation techniques can reduce pain by helping the body let go of old tension and physical trauma.

Why Relaxation Techniques Can Reduce Pain And Postural Problems

Relaxation Therapy involves a range of relaxation techniques designed to teach the body and mind how to let go of muscle tension, pain and inflammation. It encourages the body into a naturally relaxed state of being.

When we are in a state of chronic mental, emotional or physical stress we tend to clench and tense a lot of muscle areas. This creates a lot of pain and tension within the body. When we have already have a condition or injury that causes us chronic pain. We can too easily get caught up in the chronic stress and pain cycle. Whether we started with chronic stress or chronic pain, both can lead to more muscle tension and increased inflammation. Stress can cause pain and pain can cause stress. Pain and stress can also lead to poor posture, which puts more strain on the body.

Poor posture pushes us to overwork specific muscles, especially those muscles in the neck and back. The physical strain on these muscles increases inflammation which can then lead to other issues such as joint issues, arthritis. That is why we teach our relaxation teachers and therapists different relaxation techniques including one popular with physiotherapists.

Why Chronic Stress Can Lead To Cortisol Dysfunction

Another problem with chronic stress and pain is cortisol. Cortisol is a natural anti-inflammatory hormone that kicks in during the stress response. But when someone is suffering from long-term chronic  stress or pain they can si easily caught into a chronic state of survival. Where the body no longer knows how to relax, rest or repair. This in turn create’s cortisol dysfunction, increased inflammation.

Common Pain Management Techniques

Common techniques used in pain management are muscle relaxation techniques including body scans. Muscle relaxation techniques directly reduce muscle tension and soreness in the muscles. Body scanning helps you become more body aware, helping you be aware of poor posture or poor breathing. Which if not corrected can lead to further anxiety, stress, and inflammation.

The Effective Use Of Breathing Techniques With Postural Challenges

Simple breathing techniques when used with other techniques such as muscle relaxation techniques can help reduce poor postural chest breathing. Especially in those with conditions such as asthma and COPD who can find breathing painful at times. Anger, anxiety or stress combined with chest breathing is a major cause of hyperventilation. Where one tends to breathe very fast in the upper chest area. Rather than a full healthy deep breath.

Relaxation Therapy As An Effective Pain Reduction Tool

We know that chronic stress is one cause of chronic pain, so is poor posture. We know that long-term pain can get stressed because of their pain. That is why relaxation therapy is a very valuable tool in pain management and stress management.

Career As A Relaxation Therapist

Creating A Career As A Relaxation Therapist & Relaxation Teacher. Despite being a highly qualified coach, healer, therapist and stress advisor. I spent most of 18 years in stress management working as a relaxation therapist and teacher. Teaching a wide range of meditation, relaxation, anxiety and stress busting tools and techniques.

I got to feel as calm and relaxed as the students and clients I taught. Helping stressed out clients and students, learn how to relax, learn how to let go of chronic anxiety and stress. I got to share my skills as a meditation teacher, stress management advisor and therapist.

For the last 5 years I have trained therapists up as relaxation therapists and teachers.  Which over the last few years has became online training.

You can have a career as a relaxation therapist.

Organisations Where I Grew My Career As A Relaxation Therapist

One of the biggest areas of my career as a relaxation therapist. Was  my work as a coach, teacher and trainer as a contractor to the education, health, community and charity sector. I taught all sorts of aspects of holistic well-being and stress management. But the most common techniques wanted by these organisations were cost-effective life-long stress management skills. The simple powerful meditation and relaxation techniques I share in my Certificated Relaxation Therapist & Teacher Training.

So What Does A Qualified Relaxation Teacher Teach?

A Certificated Relaxation Teacher & Therapist

Teaches simple yet powerful stress management strategies that help the mind, body and emotions come off the “stress response” into the “relaxed response”.

A Relaxation Teacher & Therapist is usually qualified in a wide range of breathing, relaxation, meditation, anxiety and stress management techniques. Used in various ways to reduce, manage and let go of chronic anxiety, chronic stress, depression, insomnia even pain management.

The Many Benefits Of Teaching Relaxation Therapy

The great thing about teaching relaxation, meditation and stress management techniques is these tools are so versatile.

Many relaxation therapist techniques can help eliminate and reduce a wide range of health and wellness challenges. They don’t just reduce anxiety and stress.

Relaxation tools and techniques help reduce insomnia, depression, and reduce muscle tension and pain as part of a pain management program.

Relaxation therapy is not just for one to one clients but is very effective in groups, classes and workshops.

What Organisations Want A Certificated Relaxation Therapist & Teacher?

Most health, education and charity sectors recognise the dangers of unqualified teachers and trainers in these fields. Especially the NHS, schools, charities and support organisations who support vulnerable people who are highly anxious and stressed.

I have had the honour to teach all sorts of ages and sectors from 3 to over 70, to children with special needs, adults with addiction, carers, mental health, health challenges and disablements. Despite being qualified to university level my skills as a meditation teacher, relaxation therapist and stress management have always been the most popular.

The thing I love most about teaching relaxation therapy is that you get to teach life long skills. Powerful life skills that clients can apply to their daily life to become more happier and healthier. Especially simple and effective meditation and  mindfulness activities.

Where Can You Train As A Certificated Relaxation Teacher & Therapist?

Relaxation Therapy Training is still quite a niche therapy and training. So as yet it is not a widely available training, especially by teachers that specialied in this area. I used to offer live training in scotland but now all my training is online, which includes online live webinars and online live assessments. Through my training business Stress Coach Training

The training is now available as a non-certificated course for personal use or Certificated for professional use. Our Accreditation Level requires you to undertake the full Relaxation Therapy Training, quizzes, assessments and the case studies, assessments for accreditation. Most students do the course over 6 – 12 months, the recognise the importance of mastering the techniques themselves before teaching them to others.

At the moment I don’t know of any other training that teaches students as many different tools and techniques. I not only bring a wealth of knowledge in this work but  experience as a stress management advisor and consultant, meditation teacher, counsellor, coach and healer.

5 Ways To STOP Stressing And Start Relaxing

Learn How To Stop Stressing And Start Relaxing

How do you start relaxing when you are chronically stressed or chronically anxious? When your mind and body thas forgotten how to relax? Your mind and body is so stimulated that has forgotten how to switch-off. At times like this it can be very difficult to relax that is why relaxation therapy is so effective

Your mind, body and emotions are designed to work together in balance and harmony. And although the stress response is there to protect you physiologically and psychologically from life threatening and dangerous situations. By preparing the mind and body to fight or flight, it is not designed to be in the chronic state of stress over long periods of time.

Why Relaxation Therapy Helps You Start Relaxing

When the mind and body finds itself constantly over stimulated by FEAR of the survival response. The body gets so out of balance it can easily forget how to relax, really relax. That is why relaxation therapy and relaxation tools are such a powerful tool in anxiety and stress management.  As it not only teaches the body how to relax but it encouarges the body into its natural innate healing and repair state.

Do You Know How To Really Relax?

I don’t mean distracting yourself with the T.V. Computer, Radio or with your thoughts. I mean total relaxation, a deep stage of relaxation where you experience a mixture of calm, peace and bliss

So many people have you forgotten how to really relax?  Can you not remember those moments as a child. Those time when you were so content, so relaxed you would drift off into a dreamy state without a care in the world.

If you were a child who suffered a lot of trauma, this might be something you rarely remember. But today it is not just stressed-out adults who struggle to relax. Sadly more and more children are struggling to do the same. The younger generations are suffering from chronic stress in the form of over-stimulation, mentally, physically and emotionally.

As someone who spent a large chunk of the last 18 years teaching meditation and stress management to all ages. One of the most alarming things I saw was more and more children in the constantly hyper-alert state of the stress response. And so many adults with no mind and body awareness, who have suffered from chronic stress and anxiety for so long. Who failed to recognise or notice the signs until it had begun to seriously impact their health and well-being.

Relaxation is the sweet spot of life, even if we don’t know it. It is where we find the bliss, that place where we want for nothing, especially if you can access the stillness through techniques like meditation. And no I am not talking about guided meditation and in many ways, not mindfulness. But where you are simply aware of that stillness, peace that is always there. That may not be always visible but is underneath it all, it is even hiding in the chaos, frustration, despair and madness.

5 ways to stop stressing and start relaxing

Here Are 5 Ways To Stop Stressing And Start Relaxing

  1. Make sure you STOP and Take Breaks throughout the day not just lnch breaks, but rest periods, tea breaks. Don’t be tempted to constantly work late. Rest periods throughout your day help the body back into balance. It helps the body recognise that relaxation is the bodies natural state of being. The body is not designed to be busy or active all the time. If you don’t take time out when you go to rest or go to bed later. Your body begins to struggle and gets too used to the habit of being chronically stressed it forgets to switch off.
  2. STOP and REDUCE stimulants as much as you can. Reduce sugar, caffeine, nicotine, drugs and alcohol these can play havoc with the bodies reaction to stress.
  3. STAY hydrated, make sure you drink plenty of fresh water. When we are dehydrated it puts serious stress on the bodies organ’s and systems and can increase heart rate and blood pressure.
  4. Learn to meditate, with the right type of meditation skills you can access stillness all around you. You experience more calm and more peace in everyday life. Access this FREE Traditional Breath Meditation course
  5. Learn effective relaxation technique’s that will help you get a deep quality restful sleep. Stress can seriously impact the deepest stages of sleep leaving us feeling un-refreshed, emotional, exhausted and irritable. If you are a coach or therapist take our Relaxation Therapy Training. We teach you a wide range of breathing, meditation, relaxation and stress management techniques for your clients.

The Difference Between Meditation and Guided Meditation

The big difference between meditation and guided meditation. Or more specifically the different between most traditional meditation techniques and guided visualisation.

Guided Meditation also regarded as Guided Visualisation is very much the use of guided imagery to help guide the listener into usually a deeply relaxed state. The narrator; teacher or therapist who is guiding the meditation uses imagery, sounds, textures, scents and feelings to help support the listener; client or student into a safe space.

Guided Visualisation uses memory and autosuggestion to help anchor the mind into a story, a fantasy, a dream…The therapist usually guides the client or student into a relaxed or therapeutic state.

Where more traditional based meditation skills are based on accessing peace, calm and tranquillity through presence and awareness. Helping us to detach from our thoughts, our stories, our beliefs. It helps gives us space from the cluttered or monkey mind. More traditional meditation styles like breath meditation gives clients and students a life skill that the can apply very easily into their everyday lives.

Once a student has practiced an effective meditation technique it is much easier for them to access the peace, the stillness that is always there. It may at times appear hidden from our present view but calm and peace are always accessible within us.

I teach many different types of relaxation therapy and meditation, in-fact I train therapists in this area to be Certificated- Relaxation Therapists. Both guided visualization and meditation are highly effective relaxation tools and are used for different reasons.

But in my experience, as a teacher of these skills for more than 18 years. I have found more traditional based styles of meditation, give the student far more power in the long-term and in their day to day life. These tools provide the student the ability to access peace, stillness in their everyday life, whenever they want or need.

If you are going to a meditation class, ask what style of meditation you will learn and what will be the main benefits?

Therapists Are YOU Selling To Your Clients Needs

If you are a healer, therapist or coach you need to invest in the right marketing, the right message to your potential clients.

Your message has to be crystal clear, your marketing message has to be effective to attract the clients that are willing to pay for your product or service. But so many holistic therapists, healers and coaches struggle to get off the ground due to no, poor or ineffective marketing.

You have already spent a lot of money, probably quite a few thousand in learning your skills. A lot of hours even years studying and practicing to become a great therapist. But if you fail to invest in the right marketing skills or resources. It is very unlikely your business will grow successfully.

As therapists, we often get so caught up in the latest or most effective technique. We make the big mistake of selling the technique instead of selling the solution. Or the package, the support the service that comes with it. Think about what you are looking for, when you are in pain, unwell, feeling stressed. Are you really interested in the therapist’s tool box or the solution to your problem?

Consumers are only looking for the end result and with today’s expectations. Clients want that solution as simply, timely and stress-free as possible.

So are YOU Selling to your client’s needs?

Does your business sell solutions, to something YOUR clients truly, want or need and are willing to pay for?

Are you selling to a saturated market or a niche market?

Are YOU Selling to your right audience or an audience that belongs to someone else. I see so many new therapists invest a lot of time and energy selling to other therapists or to audiences that are not their ideal clients.

Too many coaches and therapists spend a lot of time promoting their services in groups full of other therapists. Therapists who are more than likely not your perfect client. Unless you are an experienced teacher, trainer, offering a unique service to other therapists, they are not your ideal clients.

CPD therapy training

As well as been a self-employed therapist, healer and coach for nearly 20 years. I have helped guide and support many therapists, healers, and coaches on their business journey. And witnessed one of the most common selling mistakes that many well-being practitioners make. Trying to sell their services to clients that are simply not in alignment with. I made this same mistake myself many times in my early years in business. I trained in many areas of stress management and focused a lot of time, energy and marketing towards the more corporate sector. But time and time again, the universe re-directed, nudged me into a completely different sector. My gifts, skills, life experience at that time was at a much more grass root level helping others dealing with extreme health and social changes. My niche at that time was teaching in the local health, charity and education sector.

I was a healer and therapist but my biggest skills and physical resources at that time was in empowering and teaching others who had similar life challenges. When I was being my natural self, sharing my own natural gifts  and life experiences my business flourished. When I wasn’t and was too busy focusing on the type of clients I was told I should be focusing on. Well in many was my business nose dived lol. Interestingly so did my health.

Looking back I can see clearly, the many times I was out of alignment, with who I was and who my clients were. These were the times, when I was trying to be someone I wanted to be or thought I had to be, and at those times when I was not selling to MY clients specific needs. But to someone else’s clients. Too many coaches, therapists and healers are trying to be someone they are not. Are trying to align or match up to clients that they are not naturally or not yet aligned with.

Your clients needs have to resonate with not only what you can deliver in skills and experience. But with aspects of you. Some clients are seeking compassion, care and support. Some clients are looking for perhaps a straight-talking, no-nonsense approach. Some clients want a cheap and cheerful experience. While others want a more deeply spiritual or deeply intensive experience, each client is unique so are you. You need to sell your uniqueness and your magic within your product or service.

So what does your client need?

What product or service do you offer that offers a solution to that need?

If you need any support to help identify, find or attract the right clients. Check out my Free Course What Is A Soul Client?

Marketing Your Therapy Business- Do Your Clients Understand What You Are Providing?

Marketing Your Therapy Business.

Does Your Marketing Message Sell To The Potential Clients You Want To Attract Or Does It Only Sell to Other Therapists Who Understand What You Do? Marketing your therapy business isn’t always as simple as it sounds. But thankfully we have so many free marketing tools and resources that can help us.

marketing your therapy business

With so much online marketing, so much information, so much to choose from, it can be overwhelming for potential clients to quickly see if you are the right fit for their needs. When your marketing your therapy business, clients want to see quickly if you can help solve their problem. Consumers want to access the information they want quickly and easily, they may want to see quickly if you are local or if you are the type of therapist they will resonate with. Remember online marketing is information overload, clients want to find you instantly if they don’t see the information they need, they simply move on and look elsewhere.

Important Points To Remember When Marketing Your Therapy Business

So it’s your job to make it easy for your clients to find you.
It is your job for make it clear what you offer
It is your job to make it clear how and where you do it
It is your job to make it clear what makes you qualified

You Have To Market Your Therapy Business In A Way A Child Can Quickly Convey What You Do

The sad fact is many client’s don’t know the difference between what NLP, Hypnotherapy, EFT and CBT, traditional meditation, mindfulness and guided meditation, reiki and other energy healing, herbalism and homeopathy. They just want you to solve their problem, safely and effectively and usually resonate with them. in some way

Because they just want to know you can help and that your service is right for them, maybe that your treatment or therapy is the most effective for their particular problem.

Clients may want to know if you are locally based and/or easily accessible, your charges and if you can help.

The more experienced clients or those generally suffering from more chronic or serious health issues will want to know more about how experienced, how qualified, how much you understand their condition and what type of results you have. One of the most powerful ways to market your therapy business is in your area of expertise, maybe you help with pain management, stress reduction or help those with specific health conditions.

You have to think like a client, not a therapist.

Marketing has to be so simply in a way that is understandable to a child, it has to be clear and simple.

What problem can you solve or help with, does your marketing demonstrate or convey this?

Does your marketing represent you and the type of service they will get.?

Or is it the same type of message every other therapist like you, is sending out?

You are your unique, so is your service. What makes you different?

Your message, your gifts, integrity and professionalism should be conveyed in your marketing as part of your personal motto. Especially when the holistic market and health and wellbeing industry is becoming more and more saturated with dangerously poor watered down training. So many therapists practising and teaching therapies they have no or little training in.

Apply your own discernment and inner wisdom. So many training shools, claim their therapy will do this, that, cure this, that…to every sort of challenge and disease, when in fact they often only help those conditions by a small percent.

Focus your marketing on the biggest successes, that you know your therapy is particularly effective in treating, reducing, not on those sometimes helps…I have been studying holistic wellbeing for 25 years and been a sufferer of many health challenges and I am still shocked how many claims many coaching and therapy training schools make to their students and those holistic product suppliers make to their distributors, that never add up.

Many therapies can help many conditions but some many only help a client up to 5% when others can make about 95% a difference, so focus on those benefits you have seen with your own eyes, with your clients over and over again…focus on concrete evidence and you will start to grow a more solid foundation for a strong healthy business.

common mistakes therapists make

Common Mistakes Therapists Make

Being a healer, therapist and running a business has its challenges.

Most of us become healers, therapists or coaches to be of service. We are motivated by our own life experiences, our own healing journey. We want to spend most of our working week helping clients.

But, like any business we can easily spend as much time running and marketing the business. Than actually providing the services we are trained to provide. There can be so much to do, so much to remember and so much you don’t know when you first start. That can actually cost you business in the long-term. Especially if you have only attended short or fast track training courses. That simply don’t have the time to cover everything you need to learn.

Sadly more and more therapists, coaches and healers are making legal mistakes regularly and don’t even realise it.

legal advice for therapists
Make Sure Your Legally Protected

    1. Insurance is Non Negotiable; Even when your only starting out and only have a few clients around a fulltime job, you must be insured. Your clients well being and protection has to come first. You require full Indemnity Insurance on ALL the therapies, classes and training you practice, ( make sure you are always fully qualified in everything you practice). This type of insurance policy will help cover many eventualities including accidents at your or the clients premises.Threatened legal action is more common than you realise. I know one healer who was not allowed to practice again due to having no insurance after an incident where a woman claimed she permanently injured her back, getting off the therapist’s massage couch.
    2. Never make claims that your treatment or therapy can cure specific ailments, this is illegal. You may say can help, can aid, can reduce, can support, can help eliminate….
    3. Make sure all equipment and products are safe, updated and electrically safe, get yearly PAT testing. Check high risk products like brand of hopi ear candles are up to safety standards.
    4. Follow the National Occupational Health & Safety Standards regularly, check for any updated requirements.
    5. Never use any images you find on facebook, pinterest, google for your websites or marketing unless stated they are clearly stated to be, royalty free. You can now get sites that offer free to use stock photos or buy images very cost effectively. Promotional marketing images used to be very expensive I had to pay £80 for one marketing image which now would only cost approx. £1-$1. I used to design websites for others and on 3 occasions I was served with legal action with a demand for £2000 over images they stated were royalty free but weren’t. I had to legally fight these three separate incidents which were extremely stressful and time consuming. One the only reason I managed not to pay despite it being a 3rd party’s error was at the time I was very ill, had no assets and was on a very low income, so was given pardon.
    6. You Need PRS License if you play music in any of your sessions or classes. No matter if it is in your clients or your home you have to have a PRS License or only use royalty free music. I know two fitness teachers who were served with a hefty fine  because they were playing music in their fitness class without a license.
    7. Make sure your Business Trading Name is not someone else’s trademark. It is illegal to name your business after a patented trademark.
    8. Choose wisely any products you sell or pass on to your clients. Too many companies are making bold claims,  particularly in the herbal, supplement and nutritional industry that are not 100% safe for all clients. Specifically with clients with certain health conditions. I am always shocked at how many combination herbal remedies and supplements are classed as completely balanced, safe and suitable for everybody. Be very wary, these are simply heavy unethical sales tactics. Everyone has different body types, different allergies, different needs, different challenges so will need and respond differently. I personally have had serious consequences to my health due to being given products that were deemed safe which were not suitable for my pre-existing conditions.
    9. Before attending any training or certification check out the content and people behind the training school. Does the training cover the skills, the training and certification you require for the work you want to do. Will you be able to get insurance? Will you be able to practice legally. Every type of training is different and has a different purpose. With so many fast track training schools appearing that train people up in less than a few day in subjects that would normally take a therapist years to train. It is worth questioning the quality, standard and recognition compared to other similar training. It may be the cheapest or quickest but it’s no use if it does not cover the skills or training you require. Or if its not insurable. Don’t be shy about asking the school, about the qualifications and experience of their tutors. Sadly I meet many therapists who spend thousands of pounds on inflated fast-track training that turns out to not include even the basic training or skills they actually need. They end up having to spend more time, energy and money on more suitable training .

Therapy Business or Hobby??? You Choose…

A big mistake many holistic and spiritual business owners make is falling into the belief that they are doing what they love, living their purpose, and for them, this does not equate to running a business.

Running a Therapy Business

No matter how much you think you are living your purpose by helping others. If you are doing it to make an income, you are a business and you need to apply business principles.

If you started your healing or therapy business to make an income. You have to apply the right business principles and effective marketing tactics.

Most healers, therapists, and coaches invest a lot of money, years and heart in training, studying to get the right skills, the right knowledge, and the right experience. But they fail to recognise how much they need to invest in the right business and marketing skills, and so does many of the colleges and training schools.

Even worse many irresponsible training schools give students the false impression that being in this industry is a very easy way to make a lot of money. I have seen so many people in previously great paying jobs give up over 25-40 year careers or other’s spend their retirement fund. Because the fast track training school they attended, tell their students they can very easily make between £60- £100 profit an hour, doing therapies or coaching that they have only trained in over a few days. While most in their field study for at least 12 months to several years in these fields and can’t even charge this. Most have no understanding of business, business costs, a business plan, business marketing….so they struggle to get any clients never mind make a healthy living.

Sadly I have had quite a few of these typical coaches/therapists come to see me for advice, after a very bumpy financial year or so, some still with not even one paying client. To make a living as a healer, therapist you have to apply the principles of business.

No 1: You are a business and have to run your healing or coaching service as a healthy profit making business.

No 2: Income is not profit, you may charge £40-£100 for a service but you have the various business running costs; advertising, marketing, insurance, clinic, travel, telephone, accountancy costs… So your business profit in a year is what you make after your business running costs have c0me off, not what clients pay you.

No 3: If you want you and your business to be taken seriously, you need to show up as a professional therapy, healing or coaching service.  It is always about the know, like and trust factor.  Let me give you an example. What kind of impression do you think you would be giving potential clients. If you choose to opt for the free, most basic website on a free platform? For a client, this may suggest a FREE low-cost budget service, that you are a charity or someone who is doing this as a hobby. It doesn’t exactly demonstrate professionalism.  Starting out any business can very costly but websites are now approx. 90% cheaper than they were 17 yearsagog. With website builders such as wix, weebly… you can get a fresh modern website up and running very quickly for less than the price of a cup of coffee.

No 4: If you are charging for any product or sevrice, you need to be accountable not only to yourself but more importantly your clients. Insurance is a must. Your clients health and safety must be top priority, no excuses. I am always shocked to hear how many therapists don’t have insurance.  Insurance policies can be bought from approx £50 a year for most mainstream therapies.

No 5: When you are looking to buy a product or service, what do you look for ? Imagine a potential client is looking at your product or service, what do you think they want to see? Each client wants to buy from a place of trust especially in the online world. There is so much information overload clients are looking for a business with a clear professional message. You could be the greatest healer in Scotland or the UK but still get no or few clients if you don’t market your business effectively.

No 6: Learn to recognise you can’t do it all on your own. Imagine you were opening up a restaurant. Would you try to be the cook, the receptionist, the waitress, the printer, the accountant? NO you wouldn’t. Be good at what your good at and outsource the rest, outsourcing doesn’t have to be as costly as you think. But if you invest in the right people or the right training your business will bring in the right clients, the right income. Small investments in outsourcing can make a huge difference, exchanging services with other professional businesses is a great option for those with a very small budget.

No 7: Are you trying to charge professional high charges when you are really not that experienced and offering just an okay or even poor service?  Be honest! Start off with introductory offers until you built up experience and some clientelle. I wouldn’t want to pay a newly trained therapist with only a a few years experience the same as someone with over 20 years experience, unless there work was tremendous. Would you?

No 8. Or are you highly experienced, great at what you do and under valuing yourself. I see so many highly experienced, highly qualified amazing healers with decades of experience who charge as if they have only started out. I was one of those therapists. My students were charging more than what I was. When you are too cheap, clients may get the impression that the product or service is not great quality.

No 9. Are you in the wrong location or selling to the wrong location or wrong clients? Are you trying to sell to an area where you won’t find your ideal clients. I see many new therapists trying to sell their services online in facebook groups that are full of other therapists, this maybe not be their target market. Imagine that your target market is small local business owners, But you are spending your time and effort advertising your services to online groups that are full of other therapists example a facebook group global light workers.

No 10. Do you know who your ideal clients are? I had a male therapist who believed his ideal clients were polished high end executive women. He wanted to help them with losing weight. Now, this gentleman had weight challenges himself which he hadn’t completely resolved. He didn’t pay much attention to his appearance., he had little experience working with executives. DO YOU THINK that these executive women were his IDEAL Clients. Who we want as clients and who we are a perfect fit for can be very different. If your product or service does not match the needs or expectations of your prospective clients you are unlikely to get the sale.

How to Be Authentically YOU in YOUR Therapy Business

Building a Successful Business as a Therapist or Coach Today has its challenges

build your therapy business

Building a Business as a Therapist when there is so many Coaches, Healers, Therapists offering what seems like similar services can feel stressful and exhausting.

So many therapists and coaches are struggling to pitch and build their business. Because they are marketing their services like everyone else.

I find many therapists and students I work with constantly compare them self to everyone else and try to emotionally, physically and mentally compete against everyone else.

They don’t realise, until pointed out that they are the missing ingredient in their business. YOU and Being YOU is the key ingredient.

I like you am a therapist, coach and healer who began studying holistic well being 25 years ago. Despite many health challenges that impacted greatly how many hours I could work and how much physical work I could undertake. I designed a holistic well-being business around myself, around no one else. I made lots  of costly mistakes but I also learnt very valuable ones and got to do what I LOVED.

One of the biggest advantages was in-fact my limitations, these were what made me adaptable and made me really focus on my UNIQUENESS,  my STRENGTHS. I had very little financial resources like many therapists who start up but I had a lot of knowledge and training.

Everyone would ask me for advice on therapies, remedies, essentials oils… so I used my knowledge and great interest in holistic well being to start a scottish health directory for holistic practitioners, a health newsletter and a mail order business supplying holistic products internationally as I built my physical strength up to build my work up as a therapist and stress management consultant.

I really wanted to teach other self-help therapy skills and soon found myself teaching local education and charity sectors, which became a large part of my natural niche and business for 15 years. Teaching in these areas was for me was a far more natural effective use of my gifts, energy and time. When you focus on your natural gifts, abilities and uniqueness you attract the RIGHT clients, the RIGHT job opportunities.

STOP trying to be someone else, your always going to find someone more experienced, someone more this…more that..but there is no-one like YOU

What is YOUR Gifts? YOUR Uniqueness?
