So What Is Stress Management?

Stress Management is the use of various strategies and techniques used to help one manage, reduce,  let go and become more resilient to stress. The use of various stress management strategies and techniques used to help one move from the “stress response” to the “relaxed response” such as Relaxation Techniques.

Different types of Stress Resilience Skills; Life skills and personal development tools that will help make you more mentally, emotionally, physically resilient to life’s stressors. Lifestyle analysis and Stress Assessment tools that help you assess your biggest stressors, your greatest sources of stress.

Stress Management And Stress Resilience

As someone who has studied and trained in a very long list of Stress Management Techniques from a variety of different types of stress resilience courses. What I do know is Stress Management is such a wide and loose term used today, that a lot of people don’t really understand what a Stress Management Therapist or Stress Management Advisor actually does. Some people view stress management as just a form of therapy or treatment that reduces stress. And although many of us do use different forms of therapy to help clients with Chronic Stress and Chronic Anxiety.

The Stress Management Practitioner

The stress management practitioner’s main role is actually to help empower their client or student to manage and reduce their own stress. We teach you how to become more stress-resilient. Clients may come to us for Stress Management Advice or even Relaxation Therapy. But the main goal is to help you the client or service users become more self-reliant. Become more equipped in being able to reduce, manage and cope with everyday stress. Even become more resilient to life’s bigger challenges, even trauma in a more healthy way.

Stress Management although it is a very broad term, in many ways, it is based on a holistic approach to the mind, body, emotions, and spirit. When supporting someone with their stress, the mind-body-emotional and spiritual interconnectedness is important.

My Journey Into Stress Management

I began studying Stress Management about 30 years ago at a time in my life when I had a variety of health challenges in my early twenties. I had just started studying healing and meditation and would go on to study many different types of Stress Management, Stress Resilience, and Stress Awareness Training. Eventually going on to train as an Advanced Stress Advisor at University Level. I went along this path alongside my training in many related disciplines such as Meditation, Relaxation Therapy, CBT, NLP, Holistic Wellbeing, Anxiety management, Anger management, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Holistic Therapies…

The different types of tools and techniques I learned within Stress Management and Stress Resilience helped me greatly in my own life as someone who had rare and chronic health challenges from a young age. But so did many of the other mind-body-spirit modalities that I evolved with over the years.

Choosing The Right Stress Management Support

My advice is if you are seeking help to manage your anxiety or stress, you want a practitioner or a stress management training school that has a holistic approach. A practitioner with not just a good solid foundation in different aspects of stress resilience, holistic wellbeing, and mental resilience but meditation and relaxation therapy. As these are powerful life tools that can really help clients.

One of the reasons I began offering Accredited Relaxation Therapy Training in my work was seeing how powerful Relaxation Therapy could be in helping move off the stress response into the relaxed response. For many years I was asked by organizations and other therapists to teach Relaxation Therapy.  Mainly because many organisations hired people that weren’t getting the same results that I was or they weren’t using safe and effective practice. Relaxation Techniques if you choose the right technique for that particular client is one aspect of Stress Management but it can be very effective for those who find it difficult to switch off and relax.

Using Simple, Safe, And Effective Stress Management Techniques

The best Stress Management Tools are simple and effective strategies that can be easily fitted into your routine. Those that are safe and effective will have a much better long-term benefit on your wellbeing. A Stress Resilience Coach or therapist should always have the awareness and understanding of the different types and degrees of chronic anxiety and chronic stress. Have the ability to recognise signs of possible trauma or when there may be other mental health challenges that you need support with. We need those skills to be able to choose the right treatment or self-care plan for you, that is why my Relaxation Therapist Training is not fast-track training.

What is Stress Management? What a Stress Management Trainer will teach you

As a Stress Advisor and Relaxation Therapist, I do have a wide range of stress-busting tools in my stress management toolbox. But there are a few tools and techniques that I use with most clients and that is a form of relaxation therapy and an appropriate meditation technique to suit that specific client. There are certain Anxiety Management, Meditation, and Stress Management Techniques that are not ideal for someone suffering from recent grief, loss, trauma.

So we have to have the necessary not just tools but training and awareness to choose the right tools and plan for each client. Also, managing stress is not about just putting a sticking plaster over just the symptoms. But it is also about helping someone eliminate as many causes of stress.

You learn that one form of stress therapy doesn’t always fit all.  In this work, we use a wide range of anxiety and stress-busting skills and strategies, lifestyle analysis, and personal development tools. These can include all sorts of aspects of a person’s life and work such as time management, assertiveness and communication skills, personality, and or psychometric testing and relationship analysis tools.  Many stress management consultants use mindset tools such as CBT, NLP, hypnotherapy, assertiveness training, confidence building…

Why I Mostly Teach Meditation And Relaxation Therapy In Stress Management

Because the biggest cause of stress and anxiety today is a busy mind full of distorted, negative, and distracting thoughts. Meditation slows down the monkey mind, it helps support a calm mind, it helps us detach from those distortions and over-identification of roles that can be a great source of stress. For those of you who are highly anxious or highly stressed and struggle to meditate check out my Fast and Effective 5 Minute Meditation Tool.

Most people today find it very difficult to switch off, they cannot relax, they need aids to deeply relax. Relaxation exercises, relaxation therapy re-teaches the body how to relax, how to switch off, how to sleep deeply, it reduces muscle tension and pain.

In Stress Management we help people manage and balance different areas of their life stress at work, stress at home, family stress, relationship stress, parent, and carers stress. If you would love to help clients relax and let go of Stress?
